2007

The year has come to an end and the Weissenfels Team would like to thank all volunteers who put in so much work and effort in training the horses. 30 horses were sold in various disciplines and the feedback which we have received was extremely positive.

This year we would like to add a special thanks to the following riders for excellence, dedication and the love they have shown towards the training of all the horses placed in their care. These were riders who could make any horse look majestic. All horses improved visibly each day.

Johanna Hammel from Osnabrück, Germany (hanni24@gmx.de) Riding Nemonii Shadai on the Stallion page. Johanna has decided that working with horses is her life, and has started equine studies.

Johanna Bühr from Bönstrup, Germany (johannib@gmx.de) Riding Arop Reemus on the Stallion Page. Johanna has been our top peformer this year. Through hard work and dedication she was able to represent the Cherubim Horse Stud at Okahandja. With only four week of training she gave an excellent show. Many spectators were impressed with the performance.

Ramona Woop now studying in Berlin, Germany (Weissenfels@yahoo.com) visits the stud every year. She trained horses for the jumping show in Okahandja in 2006 and was very successful. Her dedication and endless energy enspires everyone working with her. In a jumping accident early in 2007 she had a spine fracture. Not even this kept her away, and she visited the stud in October this year once again.

Together with Andrea Krause from Ullersdorf, Germany (Andreakrs423@aol.com) who has her own Arab stud, they formed the best training team of the year 2007. Andrea spent time with Moses Veldskoendraer our stud rider and offered a high standard of riding instruction. All riders were impressed by her knowledge and with which gentleness she was able to ride even the most nervous horse.

These riders have been invited to represent the Cherubim Stud at the Agricultural show in Pretoria in 2008. It would be an honour to have them as our guest riders.

Farm Weissenfels….
Situated ±110km from Windhoek, the capital of Namibia (1,5 hour drive). The farm is 5600ha large, and our closest neighbour is 15km away. The Equestrian Centre consists of stabling facilities, a dressage arena, lunging circles and stone kraals for one-on-one work with difficult horses.

The Team....
Horse trainers, Moses Veldskoendraer, Manfred and Willem, form an excellent team. Owners, Rosi and Winston, who are responsible for the breeding of the Weissenfels horses, are open to new suggestions, and welcome all riders heartily. Considerable effort is made to create excellent opportunities for all riders to develop their own skills.

Volunteers visit us on a regular basis. It is imperative to be inventive and to have the ability to work independently. You will need self-motivation and a sense of creativity to enhance and inspire the horses placed under your care for the duration of your stay. Volunteers are free to create their own programmes as long as these are to the benefit of the horses.

Languages spoken on the farm....
German, English, Afrikaans, Damara. Dutch has been added, owing to Nicolette van der Meer who will be with us for a longer period.
